1. Why recycle old electricals?
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is one of the fastest-growing types of waste in the UK. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and protecting the environment. If not recycled, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination, harming wildlife and human health.
2. Identification Mark
To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, these items are now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.
3. How do we do WEEE recycling:
As an importer and distributor of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in the United Kingdom,
FDS recognises its responsibilities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013.
In accordance with these regulations, FDS takes full producer responsibility for the products it places on the UK market. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of electrical waste by ensuring that WEEE arising from our products is correctly collected, treated, and recycled.
Although we operate solely online and are not required to offer in-store take-back, we do provide a take-back service for our customers. You may return your old WEEE to our Ipswich warehouse by prior arrangement, or send it back to us. This applies on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis when you purchase a new product from us.
To arrange a return or for more information on this service, please contact our customer support team on 01473 550500.
Additionally, customers are encouraged to dispose of WEEE responsibly by using local council collection points, civic amenity sites, or other designated WEEE collection facilities. Look for the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on your product, which indicates that it should not be disposed of in general household waste.
For further information on WEEE recycling and to locate your nearest collection facility, please visit your local authority website for details.
